Thika Shopping Basket:Tuskys tops the list this week

Last week, our shopping basket feature got a lot of attention as customers wanted to know which supermarket in Thika is cheap and which one is expensive. Last week, Kassmatt was the cheapest while Mathai was the most expensive. Today, we have chosen a different variety of products and we hope to help you make a decision on where you can shop at an affordable price.

*The total indicated for Tuskys does not include Aquafresh 75ml, which was unavailable at the time. However, if we were to estimate the price as 128 (which is the highest price) of the same amongst the other supermarkets, Tuskys would have a total of  966/=.

The supermarkets rankings from the cheapest to the most expensive are as follows:

1. Tuskys
2. Leens
3. Maguna Andu
4. Mathai
5. Kassmatt
   

The tables have overturned this week, Kassmatt is the most expensive supermarket in Thika as of yesterday at 5.00 pm. As seen in the table above, this week's cheapest supermarket is Tusky's. Even if we estimated the price of Aquafresh 75 ml as 20/= higher than of all the others, it would still be the cheapest. This means that if one person bought these items at Tuskys, and another bought the same items at Kassmatt, one would save 34/=.

Sometimes, we do not lay emphasis, on the importance of such small savings. However, it is important for you and I as consumers to know that 10, 20 or 34/= can make all the difference. For me, thats enough fare to and from home. For another, thats a half kilo of unga ya ugali. It all depends on what your needs are at the time.
As time goes by, we will notice a trend in the shopping prices and we will then be able to have a better picture of which supermarkets heed to customer's needs and financial abilities. Stay with Thika Live for more!
